All Free Signals Branch 3D STL Print Files have been Uploaded

I have completed uploading all necessary 3D print STL files to Thingiverse, an online 3D library of items that people have uploaded to the internet.

The 3D STL files are signal base/mechanisms for various types of NSWGR Lower and Upper Quadrant HO signals, including bracket versions of each.

Also uploaded are quite a number of bending jigs for safety handrails, operating rods, along with some jigs to assist in the placement and attachment of the resulting handrails.

On initial checking it will be seen that there only appears to be 24 'things'/designs, but each of these will usually have multiple variation of base/mechanisms for instance, and similarly with bending jigs.

Each of these 24 'things'/designs has a Description text section that include links to download the various signal build instructions.

Instructions on the use of the various jigs can be found in the particular signal type instructions. Note that typical jig types will be explained with photos, other similar jigs will be used the same way.

The total of signal STL 3D print files uploaded is 92.

Also available is a bracket for holding 9g servos (the blue servos). This will hold the servo in either a vertical or horizontal position.

The files are available for free although there is a 'Tip the Designer' option if you are so inclined.

I have made these files available to help improve the hobby, or at least for those modellers who want to have NSWGR LQ and UQ signals on their layout, and to support John Dersch of Ornamental Castings who will now be supplying the lost wax cast brass signal posts and signal detail parts. John is the designer and supplier of the Uneek range of scenery detail items.

John can be contacted through his web site:

For those who are interested here is the link to my Thingiverse collection of  3D STL files.

The files will download in a ZIP file.

If anyone has any questions I can be contacted by email at rpilgrim@bigpond.net.au

Enjoy, hopefully.

Signal Build Instructions Updated

I have updated the various signal build instructions and they can be found in the Links section to the right.

It is advisable to download and read the "Australian Made Brass Signal Assembly Instructions" document first as it contains a list of extra items (wire, screws, etc.) that will be required to build the signals and some advice on where to find them online.

I haven't uploaded the various 3D STL print files as yet but I have yet to do the text that will be needed on the various items descriptive download page.

The 3D STL print files are for the various bases/mechanisms that the brass signal is mounted in, along with other wire handrail and operating rod bending jigs and some jigs for mounting the handrails on the signal.

These STL files will be made available on my page on my page on Thingiverse, a 3D file online 'library'.

Links to these items will be placed on this blog.

The STL files will be free to download but there is a 'Tip the Designer' button if you feel so inclined.

For information on ordering signal castings and availability, please contact John Dersch in the Ordering Signals section to the right.
